Well, I suppose they don't have to make him Superman, necessarily, at this particular point in time; but they could have him just dressed all in black and joining Oliver's group as an anonymous hero for a while. Sort of a trial period before he goes all out as Superman? LOL. Or not.
The very least they could do, though, is let him start wearing the glasses. I had such high hopes for them way back when after he first went blind and then wore them for part of that one episode. Tom Welling looks gorgeous in glasses.
