My Big Fat Fic Index

My fanfiction is organized by fandom and by pairing. The pairing in a story is always identified in the subject line, as is the fandom.

Batfic is for stories of the Batclan of DC comics. (Bruce/Dick, Bruce/Clark, Dick/Tim, Clark/Dick)
Supermanfic (Bruce/Clark, Clark/Oliver, Clark/Lex, Clark/Dick)
BSGfic is for stories in the Battlestar Galactica 2003 fandom. (Kara/Lee)
QAFfic is for stories in the Queer as Folk (US)  fandom. (Brian/Justin)
Torchwoodfic (Jack/Ianto)
SPNfic is for stories in the Supernatural fandom. Be forewarned, some of these contain Wincest, which will be noted. If that's not your thing, don't read them. (Sam/Dean, Dean/Castiel)
SGAfic is for stories in the Stargate Atlantis fandom. (John/Rodney)
DWfic is for stories in the Doctor Who fandom. (Doctor/Rose)
Roswellfic (Max/Michael, Max/Kyle)
TSCCfic is for stories in the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles fandom. (Derek/Cameron, John/Cameron)
Merlinfic is for stories in the BBC's Merlin fandom. (Merlin/Arthur)
Trekfic is Star Trek. (Kirk/Spock)
Misc.Fic contains a number of fandoms in which I'll probably write/have written just one fic, including Due South and books by Mary Renault.

You can search the tags in the sidebar on the right of my journal for characters, pairings, or fandoms.

General Disclaimer: Every fic has a rating, and ratings of R or NC-17 involve sexual situations. Any and all depictions of sexual situations occur between consenting individuals over the age of consent. I do not own the rights to the fandoms in which I write; these fics are intended for entertainment only.

Woe is me.

I know, I know, I know. It's like I post only to promise fic and never deliver on it.

But that whole Superman/Batman longfic I mentioned I was working on? The big ole linchpin of a sex scene - my first threesome, incidentally - just will not come together. Um, that pun was unintentional. But even though this major scene was the idea behind the whole fic, and I know visually what I want to happen, the writing of it is going absolutely nowhere. And I have to finish that off before I can get the ending done and then re-edit the whole damned thing. Arrgh!

Meanwhile, of course, work has been sucking like some superpowered vacuum cleaner, everyone I see there makes me want to punch something these days, a new friend I thought was just a friend has been saying things that have made me realize he thinks this is something more and I'm really freaking terrible at handling situations like that, and I have refused to allow myself to read any of the S/B fics for that big project I had to bail out on at Christmas - at least not until I finish my own bastard of a story.

Sorry. My rant is showing again.

Anway, to all those to whom I owe fic/comments, my apologies. As ever. It's a reward system in which I can't allow myself to partake until I finish all my vegetable. Or in this case, my own story.

I really miss the days when I could spend so much time on LJ and talk to everyone and comment on things and post a bunch of stories all the time. :(

feebly waves around at all the people she's abandoned

Um. Hi.

Yes, it's me. It's been forever, I know, and I have, once again, been wholly absent from LJ - aside from some lurking in certain fandoms - and as a result, this means I have been ignoring all of you lovely people. Not that that is what I wanted to do. I don't want to ignore you. I feel terribly about having ignored you. I doubt I'll have any internet friends left with the way I've been going.

But, as I've said before and we'll hope this time sticks, I'm trying to stage a comeback. I have a fic in the works and it is almost finished. Admittedly, it was supposed to be for a holiday project for which I didn't meet the deadline, but in my defense, I've been pretty damned sick TWICE over the last month and a half (I'm sick of being sick already!) and then my damned internet connection...

Well. Anyway. Suffice to say: there are reasons, if not excuses. But on the plus side, this means that in the next week or so, I will be posting a nice, long, approximately 20, 000 words in length, Superman/Batman (Clark/Bruce) fic. Now, it's been ages and ages, probably a good year and a half or so, since I've written this pairing, so let's hope I've remembered how. But there will be fic, assuming there's anyone around to read it. I just have to finish up the big sex scene that was the inspiration for the whole fic and which defied being written for months, and then do the wrap-up and editing and get it betad and... voila.

So this is me. Waving my little flag in the wasteland and saying 'hey' and 'stay tuned.'

.........and if there is anyone out there, I recently read something referring to what are known as "sweater fics" or "warm, fuzzy sweater fics." These are fics that are purely feel-good stories that you love to come back to over and over and reread because they make you feel so happy. I like to call them "my happy place" fics. Rec me some of yours? Any fandom I read or might read would be fantastic (eg. DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Inception, Glee, Merlin, Harry Potter, Doctor Who/ Torchwood, Smallville, T:SCC, Buffy/Angel/Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, NCIS:LA, Hawaii 5-0, Sherlock Holmes/ Sherlock BBC, The Fast and the Furious, Queer As Folk). Even if you aren't sure if I do read in that fandom, if you think I should read a fic, go ahead and rec it for me anyway? Pretty, pretty please?

*waits and listens to the crickets* ;)

The upcoming DC reboot

Ah, DC. When the going gets tough, the higher-ups get rebooting.

I'm torn.

While I have missed Dick as Nightwing, I don't really like the new red suit - especially as it's missing the arm/finger stripes. The red eyes also have me concerned. And I'm quite sad that they're splitting up Dick and Damian, because I think they're a great team and their dynamic is kind of awesome. The current Batman & Robin series is a lot of fun. Besides, Damian as Bruce's Robin? I don't think so. Dick is the only one who can handle that kid and actually have an emotional connection with him.

And is it just me or do TPTB at DC seem to enjoy giving away bits of Dick's legacy/continuity? In the very beginning, it was his Robin identity. Possibly I still resent that, to a certain degree, but mostly I've accepted it. Then it was his future Red Robin identity from Kingdom Come given to Tim. Fair enough. The cowl is not my favourite look. Now, however, it's Jason running off with Roy and Starfire - two characters whose histories are inextricably intertwined with Dick's. Maybe it's just my Dick favouritism rearing its pixie-booted head, but I'm leery of some aspects of this reboot. Though at least Roy will get his arm back, from the looks of things; and potentially Lian, too.

Thoughts, anyone?

(I must say how pleased I am, though, that no one but Dick ever gets to be Nightwing. That pleases me. It's an identity he created on his own - with some assistance from Kryptonian legend - and it has remained firmly and irrevocably his own. No passing of the torch for Nightwing. It's Dick or bust.)

wee!Dick fic rec

Looking for a truly adorable wee!Dick fic? Check out this one posted at the [livejournal.com profile] yj_anon_meme , though it could be any canon: The Apple Falls Far.

I think Dick reads a little younger than the specified age 9, but he's the cutest thing ever and if you've ever wondered what should be in the dictionary under the term aww, this Dick is it.

Go forth and read and "aww."

Poking my head out of semi-unintended-retirement

I'm just getting over being sick, and I don't know if it has something to do with that or not -- or what it says about my brain, if it does -- but I have tentatively started writing Bruce/Dick again. I've even got some ideas for other fandoms, too, though admittedly, I think I might start out slow with a few "Five Times" or "Five Reasons" kind of fics. You know, just to get the juices flowing. Besides, I'm a sucker for that trope, and I find them a great way of inspiring my wayward muses.

So, if anyone has a suggestion or two for Bruce/Dick or for any other pairing I write -- something along the lines of a "5 times" fic, ie. "5 times Cas asked Dean a question" or "5 times Kirk didn't tear his shirt" -- please drop me a comment. I can't guarantee I'll be able to find something to write to fulfill the prompt, but I'll try, even if it's short and semi-pithy.

Prompt me?

And, yes, BradyGirl, I remember I was going to finish/post that B/D fic for you. Ay, me; I'm a terrible friend. But I still owe you that fic, and it will be written. I promise. Give me another week. Sunday? Possibly Sunday.

FIC REC!!!

I've just read the most brilliant fic.

Are you a Battlestar Galactica fan? Are you a Kara/Lee shipper? Were you horrified by the series finale and outraged and appalled by what they did to the character of Kara Thrace?

Have you seen Inception?

The Irreplaceability of Things Lost  is an amazing piece of writing that combines the two worlds in the most clever and satisfying way possible. Admiral Adama hires Dom Cobb to pull Lee and Kara out of the dream in which they have both become trapped, a dream in which the worlds ended and they're on the run from the cyclons while trying to find Earth.

Are you hooked yet? Then how about if I tell you that this fic explains all the inconsistencies BSG ever had, particularly those in season 4? How about if I tell you this is the one fic you have to read after you've watched the entire series? (Though you do have to read it only AFTER youv'e watched the entire series, because it has spoilers for absolutely everything. Please be aware of that.) How about if I tell you it's a lovely long, plotty, emotional, believable, plausible story?

Okay, now that I've got your attention, run as fast as you can to read this story. I guarantee you you won't be disappointed.

Delicious closing? Say it ain't so

I'm probably very much behind the times on this, but I've just found out that Yahoo is shutting down Delicious. Since that's my preferred place to store and organize my links to fanfics, I'm a little bothered by this news.

My question is: where do I go  now? What is the next best site for bookmarking? Any favourite choices? Any ones I should avoid? Where is everyone else going instead of Delicious?

Gleefic: Big Fish Meet Different Pond (Kurt/Blaine pre-slash)

It's a little bit meta, this feeling inside. I'm not one of those who can easily hide.... ;)

Ah, more Glee fic. And this time, in defense of (some) of the canon of 2x09. SPOILERS

Title: Big Fish Meet Different Pond
Author: ladybugkay
Fandom: Glee
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine pre-slash
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1211
Spoilers/Warnings: through 2x09 “Special Education”; warning for meta; angst
Summary: Wes hasn’t made up his mind yet about their newest Warbler. Wes POV.
Disclaimer: Oh, Ryan Murphy and Fox and all those other wealthy people own the characters. I get nothing for this.
Note: There seems to be a lot of negative reaction toward Blaine and the Warblers and Dalton in general after this episode, and while I can absolutely understand it, and am not entirely comfortable myself with the way the writers chose to go in the ep, I don’t think the Dalton boys are entirely in the wrong. I love Kurt, but let’s step outside his POV for a moment. That’s what this is an attempt to be, anyway. Yes, this is meta.

Wes doesn't know what he thinks about Kurt Hummel. )

Also, what is up with this LJ font? What happened to it and how do I change it back?

Website query

Has anyone ever ordered from thebookdepository.com ? Is it a trustworthy site? Reliable? Not prone to viruses or leakages of personal and financial information? It's just that they have a book I want that isn't available through Amazon, and apparently they always have free shipping on every book regardless of price.

Anyone?

Also, someday I need to get a paid journal so I have a few more icons and don't have to use one that has very little to do with my post.

Joss Whedon's Equality Now speech

How have I not seen this until now?

This is Joss Whedon's Equality Now speech. Meryl Streep introduces him, and the actual speech starts at 2:00.

God, I love this man's mind.

Random things I suddenly wanted to post yesterday

So after I spent yesterday spamming everyone's flist with all my posts for my Big Bang, I suddenly had a bunch of random things I wanted to post, too, and I had to wait until today.

First, [livejournal.com profile] vengefuldemon69 's fanmix for my Big Bang is awesome, and her post for it introduced me to grooveshark.com. Did you know you can make and post a playmix (in a widget; not for download) as easy as pie? It makes me want to go through and do quick fanmix playlists for all my fics. It's like an instant soundtrack, and it makes me happy.

Second, yes, I did actually watch the last Smallville episode, "Homecoming," and while there were a lot of problems with it, I appreciated that they were addressing the meta concerns about the stagnation of Clark's character and how long it's taking him to become Superman, not to mention the way the writers keep bringing up old issues and making Clark unforgiving of mistakes. And I adored the future scenes. A lot.

Third, which is related to second, is this very fun Lois/Clark (plus a little of the rest of the cast) vid:

Fourth, um, I thought Jensen did a great job of directing Supernatural 6x04. Love Bobby!

And I guess that's all I had the sudden urge to share yesterday probably only because I couldn't after having posted so much already. lol
